I’m doing directory submissions for my site and i’m wondering why i’m getting fewer backlinks from Google & MSN than Yahoo & Alta Vista. What could be the factors? Do i need to optimize my site or resubmit to Google & MSN?

Im guessing that your site is relatively new? If so this phenomena is called sandbox period
this is a normal procedure with the search engines.. They consntantly scour the internet for new content so your rankings and links will increase then decrease.. Just continue what you are doing and get relevant links to your site
it could also be google’s duplicate filter at work.. If your content is being used and referenced to your page by several websites.. Eventually google will eliminate such links

since i do have post quality content i don’t have any page rank from google.. can anybody please solve this…?!

Google only accepts links from relevant sources..Since it is difficult to get links from actual websites in your industry, the best way is to make use of article directories and ask-n-answer websites. In these websites, you can create your own article and link to your website, which will add a lot of value because the link to your site is from a relevant article source. Why do i have no backlinks in Google?
I spent like two monthes now trying to get backlinks .. and at the moment i have over 100 backlinks in yahoo … but why i have no backlinks in google ? do i have to do something speical .. i appreciate your answers.

It does not matter if Google is not showing your backlinks. I recently had a customer with more than 6200+ backlinks in the Yahoo Site Explorer and only 10 backlinks in Google. Still we were ranking for a competitive keyword in Google on Rank #1. Just keep up the link building and do not worry about google not indexing your links.

By pagerank you mean the visible pagerank in the Google Toolbar
Don’t obsess yourself with what’s in the toolbar. Google updates your PR regularly in their algorithm, but only updates the visible toolbar a few times a year (4 this year?).
That means your website may already have a pagerank, but you don’t see it yet. Maybe in the next update it will be visible now
In the meantime, continue creating great content and build backlinks
